Asin Receives Highest Civilian Honor as her 150th Award

Bollywood actress Asin is receiving her 150th award and this time it’s not for her acting. It seems that our little screen maven has secretly been involved in a lot of charity and philanthropic work; so much so that the Tamil Nadu government is awarding her with the highest civilian honor. Asin will be awarded the Kalaimamahi Award, which will be presented to her by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu himself, M. Karunanidhi.

"I'm proud that the state chose me to give its highest honor. It is true that this one is my 150th award and the number of awards might sound a mouthful but I have miles to go and lots to achieve. I'm still very young and it's great to have won so many awards in my film career. I have had a great start in Bollywood and I'm looking to do some good projects in this industry as well as down South," she says.

That being said, how come we never heard about any of her philanthropic work in the past? Well this is because Asin is a very private person and prefers not to be an exhibitionist. Although she is grateful for her new award, she does her charity work out of the goodness of her heart, not for extra publicity.

A source says, "Asin hates talking openly about her social work. She is a private person and does not want to flaunt her good deeds. She secretly takes time off regularly and visits the institutes she is associated within Kerela and Tamil Nadu.”

It looks like Asin’s big heart and good deeds have not gone unnoticed.
